8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip

For the first time in over a decade, Jennings County Middle School traveled to Washington, D.C. 8th graders spent two days in the city exploring the monuments, museums, and government centers. They then traveled to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to experience the historic battlefield. It was an amazing experience for all!

Congratulations to the Archery Team

The middle school archery team participated in the NASP national tournament in Louisville. They posted their best score this year, a score of 3297, and they came in 27th out of 255 teams, which is really great! They had many archers bring their best effort:

  • Trina Collins and Payton Sweet both shot 276
  • Drew Stockleman shot 277
  • Aliza Applegate shot 279
  • Kellen Boggs shot 280
  • Aron Spencer shot 294 and achieved middle school boys rank four out of 2909 archers. He also made the 2019 NASP All-American Academic Team! Way to go, Aron!

Coach Boggs and Coach Mahoney stated that they are so proud of their entire team. We are as well!

Change in Breakfast Program for 2019–2020

During the 2018–19 school year, the Jennings County Schools piloted a program to provide free breakfast for all students in the district. Unfortunately, the formula we used to allow us to calculate the cost of the program was not an accurate predictor of our financial commitment. While we were able to finance this program for one year, we are not able to continue it due to the financial cost of the program. While we will no longer be providing free breakfasts, we are committed to ensuring students who are hungry have meals available. Our staff will work closely with families to make sure we do not turn any student away from breakfast or lunch if they do not have money.

To learn how to apply for free or reduced price meals and textbook assistance, please see the entire letter from Superintendent Teresa Brown.

We look forward to welcoming back our students on August 6. We have many exciting opportunities planned for our students for the 2019–20 school year. Please continue to let us know how we can better serve you.
