MS Panther News

Our students are making headlines, and we want to share all the great news with you. We will keep this page updated with important announcements, news stories, and student shout outs. Please check in often and help us celebrate our students’ many achievements.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences will take place on Wednesday, September 10 and on Thursday, September 11 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. This is a valuable opportunity for parents and guardians to connect with teachers and work together to support students’ success. These conversations help ensure that every student is supported academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the school year.

Fundraising Dine In Or To Go

Help support our school by dining in at Texas Roadhouse in Columbus on Tuesday, September 16 from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. Mention that you are there for dine-in night and Jennings County Middle School will earn a 10% donation of the evening's sales towards our student fund! This fund covers various incentives, activities, and much more!

Handling Your Device!

Taking care of your Chromebook is an important part of making sure it works when you need it most. Treat it like a valuable tool, not just another school supply. Follow these tips to keep it safe, clean, and ready for learning all year long:

  • Carry it the right way – Hold it with both hands, lid closed, and never pick it up by the screen.
  • Keep the protective case on – It’s there to protect against drops, scratches, and “oops” moments.
  • Avoid food and drinks nearby – Crumbs and spills can cause serious damage.
  • Watch the temperature – Don’t leave it in hot cars, direct sun, or freezing cold.
  • Be gentle with the screen and keyboard – No poking the screen, slamming the lid, or leaving objects on the keyboard.
  • Charge it overnight – Plug it in before bed so it’s ready for the next day.
  • Report issues right away – Cracks, missing keys, or charging problems should be reported to a teacher or tech office immediately.
  • Take responsibility – It’s checked out to you, so treat it like you would your own phone or other important device.

If you have any technology issues, Miss Caldwell, our building tech, is in room 25.
