Honeybee Field Trip
photos of honeybee field trip

On Saturday morning April 6, 2019, the JCMS Buzz/Science/Robotics Club took a field trip to look inside an active honeybee hive. They were able to inspect a hive that survived the cold winter months. The hive looked good! Students were able to look inside the honeycomb and find eggs, larvae, and pupae. These were all good signs that the queen is healthy, and the bees are ready for the spring build up. The bees were also working hard bringing in pollen and nectar. We also inspected for parasites and any other unwanted intruders. So far, so good! The bees we are working with are chemical treatment free.
